Transition in Action......

The Enliven project is setting about to create a new mentor-based ‘skills bank’. This will support the sharing and preserving of skills in local communities, drawing from traditional styles of learning whilst in the workplace and real life settings.

We are creating a list of all skills available within each local community, Enliven will become a resource for people to use. Whether looking to hire a skilled trades person; to learn a skill yourself or to simply learn more about your local community, Enliven will provide a rich source of information about what’s available locally, from plumbing services and designers to traditional crafts and animal care.

The project will be aimed at local communities in and around the River Wye, enabling locals to meet new people close to home, share knowledge about the local surroundings and build a more sustainable network of support.

Wye Support

Trading within local communities allows more money exchanged to stay within those communities – helping small individual enterprises to prosper and develop whilst ensuring traditional local skills are preserved. This in turn increases employment, strengthens community values, social interaction and has great benefits towards general health.

Buying locally also saves money for the customer on transport and fuel costs, helping save the environment on unnecessary fuel emissions and weight of traffic. Staying local builds relationships with neighbours and creates a local support network, meaning that in emergencies, you have people at hand you can trust.
